Emma’s Story

At the age of 6 1/2, Emma found herself dumped in a kill shelter by her owners. She was heartworm positive and had a huge mammary tumor, which proved to be cancerous. Thanks to a local rescue group, she was saved from euthanasia and given the necessary medical treatment for her heartworms. Unfortunately, the oncologist she visited predicted she would only live 3-6 more MONTHS and chemo wouldn’t buy much more time.

Emma then found herself placed in such a loving home, that even though her cancer progressed to her lungs, she lived over three more wonderful YEARS full of happiness and joy for both her and her family!!

Once Emma crossed the Rainbow Bridge, her owner, Regan Fowler, wanted to do something to help other senior dogs while honoring Emma at the same time and so Emma’s Wish Senior Dog Rescue was born. Senior dogs still have so much life and love to give and we want to help them live their golden years in homes, not shelters.

There are so many ways to help the sweet seniors...you can foster (they are potty trained, don’t chew and are generally pretty low-key!), make a monetary donation to help with their medical expenses or help the rescue with fundraising. We are a small 501(c)(3) all-volunteer rescue and welcome help in any capacity!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and we hope you will share our dogs so they can find the loving homes they deserve!
