Q: Do you adopt outside the DFW Metroplex?

A: Unfortunately, no. We prefer our dogs stay in the area for two reasons. First, a home check is part of the adoption process so the applicant needs to live in the Metroplex. Second, if a dog should ever need to come back into our service, we need to be able to retrieve him/her in a timely fashion.

Q: Where can I come see the dogs?

A: We do not have a facility where we keep the dogs; they are in foster homes. Once your application been submitted and approved, we will set up a time and location for you to meet the particular dog you are interested in. Occasionally we take the dogs to local adoption events; check the website and/or Facebook for details of an event.

Q: I submitted my application; what is the next step?

A: Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed within 48 hours. A vet check is part of the process so please allow time for their office to be open. If your application meets our requirements, a volunteer will call you to review it and to answer any questions you might have. If your application doesn’t meet our requirements, you will be notified by e-mail. A meet and greet with the dog you are interested in is the next step. Assuming you and the dog are a match, we will then set up a time to do the home visit; typically the dog comes along. If there are other pets in the home, we will help with introductions. Finalizing the adoption is the last step. An adoption contract needs to be signed by both parties and an adoption donation submitted. There is always a trial period with a new dog and some require more/less time than others. We will discuss what your particular dog’s needs are before leaving.

Q: If I submit my application for a dog before anyone else, does that mean I’m first in line?

A: No, we review all applications and find the best fit for the dog.
